Our new President and CEO, Dr. Emlyn Koster, has a core interest in how informal learning experiences can be a stronger catalyst for societal innovations and environmental stewardship. He cites the views, as two examples from the past decade, of the Harvard Business School's Michael Porter who in his keynote role at AAM's centennial conference proposed that Museums should be clear about who they are, what makes them different, and why and how they exist as part of a value chain in society , and Jacqueline Gijssen of Vancouver, Canada, who imagined that The museum becomes critical to the long-range health of a place... central to think-tanks, planning initiatives and community transformations. The new economy is understandably intensifying the expectations of public and private sector funders for demonstrated returns on their investments. The Institute for Learning Innovation is therefore keenly interested to collaborate on projects that explore how the learning field can pursue incisive what?, why? and how? questions to augment its external value.
